About The Agent CFO
The Agent CFO is for CFOs and finance teams working out where AI fits in their work. It compares finance software and talks to the finance leaders who have already put AI to work.
What you will find here
Buyer guides
Each guide compares the tools for one finance job, from AI agents and the month-end close to AP automation and ERP. Prices appear only where the vendor publishes them, and every entry names the catch.
Conversations with finance leaders
Video interviews with finance leaders from SeatGeek, NetSuite, Vivino, Verdant and many more on what they automate, what they build or buy, and what stays with people.
The weekly briefing
A short email on finance transformation and leadership, sent once a week.
How the guides are written
Every claim about a product is checked against the vendor's own pages. When a vendor keeps its price private, the guide says so. Each guide shows the date it was published and links to the conversations where finance leaders talk about that work.
Who it is for
Finance leaders at mid-market and growing companies, the people choosing an ERP or deciding whether to build a tool or buy one.
What finance leaders keep coming back to
Build, buy or leave it alone
SeatGeek's finance team builds some tools and buys others. NetSuite's Craig Sullivan asks what building your own software costs in time that could go into running the business.
Keep the math deterministic
Paul Barnhurst says number work needs a deterministic solution. Teddy Collins keeps repeatable data work out of AI, so his team is not burning tokens on it.
Why transformation projects fail
Vin Messina, Ilana Esterrich and Jason Yocum each explain why most finance transformations fail and what to do differently.
Episode 5: Vin Messina and Ilana EsterrichEpisode 2: Jason Yocum

The junior analyst
Teddy Collins on the future of the junior analyst.
Finance on the floor
Samantha Singer-Guindi on leaving the desk to work next to operations, and why every line of a hospitality P&L moves together.
