Best AI tools for Microsoft Dynamics 365

Dynamics 365 finance teams now get agents from Microsoft itself: an Account Reconciliation Agent in Finance and a Payables Agent in Business Central.

Both products also have MCP servers that let outside AI agents work with ERP data within the permissions of the user they run as.

ChatFin works the exception queues that the native agents leave behind, such as unmatched invoices and bank reconciliation leftovers, on both Finance and Business Central.

The other tools cover AP capture inside Business Central, AP beside the ERP, and planning that pulls Business Central or Finance and Operations actuals into Excel.

1ChatFin

chatfin.ai

ChatFin runs finance agents on Dynamics 365 Finance and Business Central that read the ERP, group exception queues by cause and prepare entries for a named person to approve. It posts nothing on its own.

Best for

Dynamics 365 teams whose time goes on working exception queues, such as unmatched invoices and bank reconciliation leftovers, after Copilot and the native agents have made the first pass.

What it does

  • Works the vendor invoice exception queue by cause, such as waiting on a product receipt, price outside tolerance, no purchase order or a duplicate under a changed reference, and routes each group to whoever can resolve it.
  • Proposes cash application against messy remittances, tracing each line to an open invoice and naming every difference.
  • Explains a variance from the transactions behind it, with the vouchers and the financial dimensions stated.
  • On Business Central, works the bank reconciliation lines that native matching could not clear.

AI features

Automation AI
Module that runs multi-step workflows such as AP processing and multi-entity close coordination, with human approval gates and exception routing.
Document AI
Module that extracts and classifies invoices, remittances, contracts and receipts and pushes structured data to the ERP.
Analytics AI
Module that produces variance analysis with written commentary, anomaly detection, forecasts from live ERP data, and KPI monitoring with alerts.

Connects to

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Reads Finance through OData data entities, the Data management package API and business events, and Business Central through API v2.0 and custom API pages, under a user or application account whose security roles or permission sets set what it can read and write.

Microsoft's Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server and Business Central MCP server are used where enabled. Everything is a proposal until a named person releases it.

Pricing

No pricing is published; ChatFin sells through demos, and its free trial page says the trial is open to selected companies only.

Watch out for

ChatFin's Business Central page says teams with low purchase invoice volume and few exceptions are probably fine with native capability, and that the strongest case is high volume with a small team.

2Copilot and agents in Dynamics 365

Microsoft. microsoft.com

AI built into Dynamics 365 by Microsoft.

Best for

Finance teams already on Dynamics 365 Finance or Business Central who want agents inside the ERP they own before adding a third-party tool.

What it does

  • Account reconciliation workspace in Dynamics 365 Finance that raises exceptions instead of relying on SSRS reconciliation reports; the agent handles voucher amount mismatch and pending accounting transferred to general ledger, and each reconciled exception can be undone.
  • Business Central Payables Agent watches a payables mailbox, extracts PDF invoices with Azure Document Intelligence, identifies the vendor, suggests GL accounts or deferral templates, proposes PO lines and creates a draft. It does not post invoices.

AI features

Account Reconciliation Agent
Evaluates reconciliation exceptions and recommends an action such as Create journal entry; users accept it or choose reverse, link transactions or accept without change. Microsoft's Learn page labels it a production ready preview.

Connects to

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure Document Intelligence, SAP (Finance Agent in Outlook), Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server, Business Central MCP server.

Pricing

Dynamics 365 Finance $210.00 per user/month, paid yearly.

Watch out for

Coverage is still narrow.

3Continia Document Capture

Continia Software. continia.com

AP automation that runs inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and is installed from Microsoft AppSource.

Best for

Business Central (and NAV) companies that want invoice capture and approval inside BC itself, priced by document volume.

What it does

  • Data capture that places invoice text directly into Business Central fields using AI and Vendor Intelligence.
  • Automatic three-way matching that can approve invoices within a variance the company sets, plus approval workflows and a document archive.

AI features

AI account suggestion
Suggests a G/L account, item, item charge or other account type for purchase invoice lines (2026 R2).

Connects to

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft AppSource, Peppol, Mekorma.

Pricing

Published per month in USD for Business Central online (sheet valid April 2026), by documents registered: Essential $14 for up to 25 documents, $32 for 26 to 100, $63 for 101 to 200, $139 for 401 to 500 and $251 for 751 to 1,000; Feature Modules are priced separately on the same tiers.

Watch out for

Each new online version works only with the latest Business Central version, so a company that delays BC upgrades also waits for new Document Capture features.

4Medius

medius.com

Cloud AP automation that sits beside Dynamics 365 without touching its source code.

Best for

Larger Dynamics shops, including Finance and Operations and older AX or NAV estates, that want AP run outside the ERP with a validated connector.

What it does

  • Invoice capture, workflow, matching and payment automation in one interface, with mobile approvals for approvers and buyers.
  • Multi-way matching, prepayments and recurring invoices on both plans; Fraud & Risk Detection and a Supplier Portal on AP 360.

AI features

Medius Copilot
AI for approvers that does invoice review work and answers questions; included in the AP 360 plan.

Connects to

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Dynamics AX 2012, Dynamics NAV, Oracle NetSuite, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle JD Edwards, Infor M3.

Pricing

No prices published.

Watch out for

Prices are quote-only, and Medius Copilot, Supplier Conversations and fraud detection sit only in the higher AP 360 package, so the AI features in this entry are not in AP Essentials.

5Stampli

stampli.com

Procure-to-pay software where approvers and AP talk on the invoice itself.

Best for

Dynamics AP teams, including multi-company Business Central setups, that want invoice approvals and questions in one place with BC or Finance as the book of record.

What it does

  • Pulls vendors, GL accounts, dimensions, companies, projects, open POs, PO lines and receipts from Business Central, and sends approved invoices, credits, coding, documents and payment records back.
  • Checks required fields and mappings against BC data before anything is sent back; multi-company is supported.

AI features

Billy
Learns coding patterns and applies them across ERP fields, routes by approval rules and flags exceptions; people keep approvals, posting and payment release.

Connects to

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics SL, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Oracle NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP S/4HANA.

Pricing

No prices published; the pricing page asks buyers to request a quote.

Watch out for

The Business Central page says custom fields and third-party extension data sync only if the configured integration supports them, with scope confirmed during implementation, so heavily extended BC tenants should test their own fields.

6Vena

Vena Solutions. venasolutions.com

Planning, budgeting, reporting and close software that runs in Excel and connects to the Microsoft stack (Power BI, Fabric, Teams).

Best for

FP&A teams on Dynamics 365 that plan and report in Excel and Power BI and want budgets and forecasts tied to live ERP actuals.

What it does

  • Direct Business Central connector built on the BC API with self-serve data feeds, one-click refresh of actuals and drill-down to transactions from budgets and reports.
  • Pre-built Microsoft Fabric connector for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, which Vena calls the first F&O connector for FP&A.

AI features

Planning Agent and Reporting Agent
Build budgets and forecasts in Excel from plain-language requests, and generate reports with drill-down that teams can work on in Excel Live in Microsoft Teams.

Connects to

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Teams, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, Acumatica.

Pricing

No prices published.

Watch out for

Vena AI needs a separate Vena AI license on top of the FP&A license, and Gartner placed Vena as a Niche Player in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Financial Close and Consolidation, so buyers needing heavy consolidation should test that module closely.

Which one fits

  • You run Dynamics 365 Finance and month-end subledger to GL reconciliation eats days

Pick Copilot and agents in Dynamics 365. The Account Reconciliation Agent flags exceptions and suggests a journal entry or other fix, and every reconciled exception can be undone. It is still labeled a preview.

  • You are on Business Central and want invoice capture to live inside BC

Pick Continia Document Capture. It installs from AppSource, does three-way matching within a variance you set, and publishes per-document prices starting at $14 a month.

  • You run Finance and Operations or still have AX 2012 and want one AP tool across them

Pick Medius. Medius lists AppSource-validated integrations for Business Central and Finance and Operations plus managed AX 2012 and NAV connectors. Its Copilot and Supplier Conversations need the AP 360 package.

  • Approvers across several BC companies keep emailing AP about invoices

Pick Stampli. Questions sit on the invoice, Billy codes and routes it, and the Business Central sync supports multi-company setups with BC as the book of record.

  • Your FP&A team builds budgets in Excel from Dynamics exports

Pick Vena. Its direct Business Central connector and Fabric connector for Finance and Operations refresh actuals into Excel, and its Planning Agent drafts budgets from plain-language requests.

Questions to ask in a demo

  • Which Dynamics 365 product and version do you support today (Business Central online, on-premises, Finance and Operations, AX), and what happens to your app when we take a Microsoft update?
  • Which Dynamics tables or entities do you read and write, and do our custom fields and extension data sync?
  • Which actions does the AI take without a person, and where are they logged for audit?
  • How is AI usage billed: in your license, as a separate AI license, or through Copilot Credits on our Azure subscription?

How we chose

We picked six tools for the job and checked every capability, integration and price on the vendor's own pages on 16 October 2026, or on a filing or news report. Figures are the vendors' own claims unless noted.

We looked at Microsoft's Copilot and agents and a longer list of AP, planning and reporting vendors. We kept tools with a current vendor page showing a Dynamics 365 connection, and we wanted more than AP tools on the list.

One reporting product is mid-move into a new product with its old page gone, one planning product now belongs to another company, and two others had only old pages. Two AP tools were left out to make room for planning. ChatFin's entry uses facts from its own pages, checked on 19 October 2026.
