Best financial close management software

Close management software runs the reconciliations, transaction matching, journal entries, task lists and consolidation that turn a trial balance into signed financials.

The four suites here have done that for years with rules, templates and checklists, and each has added AI agents since 2025.

Some are close specialists that sit next to your ERP, while others fold the close into a wider performance management suite with planning and tax. These suites built their controls and audit trails first and are now adding agents.

Newer AI-first tools started with agents and add controls later.

1ChatFin

chatfin.ai

ChatFin is an AI agent platform for finance and accounting teams that connects to a company's existing ERP and runs close, AP, reconciliation and reporting work, routing each posting to a named approver.

Best for

A lighter option next to a full close management suite, for teams that want agents to do the close work itself on their ERP.

What it does

  • Agents draft journal entries and accruals, a person approves before anything posts to the ERP, and every action is logged for audit.
  • Matches transactions across bank statements, ledgers and intercompany accounts, and flags and prioritizes exceptions.
  • Writes variance narratives, spots trends and anomalies, and produces forecasts from live ERP data.

AI features

Automation AI
Module that runs multi-step workflows such as AP processing and multi-entity close coordination, with human approval gates and exception routing.
Compliance AI
Module that tracks SOX controls, expense policies, vendor limits and approval thresholds and flags exceptions.

Connects to

Oracle NetSuite, Oracle Fusion Cloud, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, SAP Business One, SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, QuickBooks Online, Workday, Snowflake, Epicor Kinetic, Infor CloudSuite, Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT.

Connects through each system's own APIs (for example SuiteQL for NetSuite, Service Layer for SAP Business One, AIS for JD Edwards) under a dedicated service account that keeps the ERP's role permissions, and queries data in place rather than copying it.

The About page says on-premise and hybrid ERP setups are supported.

Pricing

No pricing is published; ChatFin sells through demos, and its free trial page says the trial is open to selected companies only.

Watch out for

ChatFin runs agents on the ERP. The pages we checked do not describe a close calendar, reconciliation certification or task sign-offs, and every suite listed here sells those.

2FloQast

FloQast (private). floqast.com

Close management software built around a close checklist and account reconciliations, with a Close AI tier that adds AI agents, matching, journal entry posting and variance analysis.

Best for

Mid-market accounting teams that run the close from a checklist and want to add agents without a large implementation.

What it does

  • Close Checklist for task management, and Account Reconciliations for prep, tie-out and sign-off.
  • Journal Entry Management for preparing and approving entries with auto-posting to the ERP.

AI features

AI Agents (FloQast Transform)
Builds agents from a finished close or from described inputs and outputs, tests them against the team's own approved numbers, and requires accountant sign-off before they run.

Connects to

Oracle NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday, Sage Intacct, Xero, Intuit QuickBooks, Yardi.

Pricing

No prices published.

Watch out for

ERP Research says the checklist-driven close can add overhead for organizations with very large numbers of legal entities, and it found 1 of 6 consolidation and intercompany capabilities.

3Trintech Cadency and Adra

Trintech (private; Plano, Texas). trintech.com

Reconciliation and close software sold as two product lines: Cadency for large, complex and public companies, and Adra for leaner mid-enterprise teams.

Best for

Companies with heavy reconciliation and matching volume.

What it does

  • Cadency covers balance sheet reconciliations, transaction matching with exceptions for unmatched items, close task orchestration, journal entry workflow and intercompany reconciliation.
  • Adra Matcher does multi-way matching (3-way, 4-way and more) against bank, credit card and point-of-sale data without cleanup.

AI features

Trintech Flux Agent
Identifies material account movements across entities, currencies and hierarchies, flags posting errors, incomplete accruals and intercompany discrepancies, and drafts explanations with evidence. Announced as available 25 June 2026.

Connects to

NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Workday, Planful, ServiceNow.

Pricing

Trintech publishes no prices and has no pricing page.

Watch out for

The September 2026 agent launch gives no general availability date or price, and neither the release nor the agent pages say whether the new agents run in Cadency, Adra or both; buyers are told to contact an account manager.

4OneStream

OneStream (private; acquired by Hg in April 2026). onestream.com

An enterprise performance management platform that puts close, consolidation, planning and reporting on one data model next to the ERP.

Best for

Mid-market and enterprise groups with complex consolidation (eliminations, currency translation, ownership) that also want planning and tax provision on the same platform.

What it does

  • Global consolidation with intercompany eliminations, currency translation and acquisition handling under US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Account reconciliation and transaction matching on the same platform, with data ingested and transformed there rather than in point tools.

AI features

SensibleAI Account Reconciliations
Pre-built finance models that flag atypical adjustments, missing documentation and unusual patterns during reconciliation, with automated exception handling.

Connects to

SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Workday.

Pricing

OneStream publishes no prices and has no pricing page.

Watch out for

ERP Research found no public evidence of variance and flux analysis capabilities (0 of 5), SOX controls tracking or close calendar tracking, and puts the starting cost at the enterprise end of the market.

5Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM (Account Reconciliation, Financial Consolidation and Close)

Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL). oracle.com

Oracle's EPM suite, in which Account Reconciliation and Financial Consolidation and Close are two business processes alongside planning, tax reporting and narrative reporting.

Best for

Large companies, often already on Oracle, that want reconciliation, consolidation, tax and planning in one EPM suite rather than separate point tools.

What it does

  • Reconciliation Compliance: balance certification with configurable formats, risk ratings, preparers, reviewers, approval levels, auto certifications and audit trails.
  • Transaction Matching across bank, subledger, intercompany, accrual and suspense accounts, with one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many and single-sided adjustment rules.

AI features

Reconciliation Assignment Assistance and Transaction Matching Assistance
Predictive AI that suggests reconciliation attributes from history and likely one-to-one matches for items left after Auto Match, with confidence scores users accept, adjust or discard.

Connects to

Oracle Cloud EPM data integration, EPM Integration Agent, REST APIs, EPM Automate, Oracle Smart View.

Pricing

No prices published on the EPM product page or the Account Reconciliation datasheet; Oracle directs buyers to request a demo or contact an Oracle account manager.

Watch out for

The Account Reconciliation AI Assistants require Fusion AI Agent Studio setup, and the close assistants are templates that service administrators download and install.

Which one fits

  • Your team wants to turn its own close steps into agents without hiring developers.

Pick FloQast. FloQast's agent builder creates agents from a finished close or a description of inputs and outputs, tests them against your approved numbers and needs accountant sign-off before they run.

  • You match high volumes of bank, card or point-of-sale lines and exceptions pile up.

Pick Trintech Cadency and Adra. Adra Matcher handles multi-way matching against bank and POS data, and the Exception Management Agent ranks exceptions and suggests a root cause. Ask which product line the agent runs in.

  • Consolidation is your hardest step: many entities, currencies, ownership changes and acquisitions.

Pick OneStream. It handles eliminations, currency translation and acquisitions under US GAAP and IFRS alongside reconciliations and journals. ERP Research puts the starting cost at about $200,000 a year.

  • You already run Oracle Cloud ERP or Oracle EPM for planning and want the close in the same suite.

Pick Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM (Account Reconciliation, Financial Consolidation and Close). Account Reconciliation and Financial Consolidation and Close share data with planning and tax reporting, and predictive matching suggestions come with confidence scores. The AI assistants need Fusion AI Agent Studio set up.

Questions to ask in a demo

  • Which of the AI features in this demo are generally available today, which are in preview, and do they cost extra?
  • Show an agent's reconciliation or accrual from start to finish: what it read, what it proposed and where the reviewer's approval is recorded.
  • Is your connector to our ERP version bi-directional, and which fields does it write back?
  • How long did implementation take for your last three customers with our entity count, and what did services cost?

How we chose

We picked five tools for the job and checked every capability, integration and price on the vendor's own pages on 16 October 2026, or on a filing or news report. Figures are the vendors' own claims unless noted.

We started from eight established suites and kept the ones that document both mature close modules and named AI features with release dates or a press release. One names no AI features on its product page, one is mostly reporting and disclosure, and one centers its AI work on planning.

If you want AI-first tools built in the past few years instead, see our guide to AI tools for month-end close. ChatFin's entry uses facts from its own pages, checked on 9 October 2026.
